1. Jesus set the example  (Matthew 3: 3);  (Mark 1: 9);  (Luke 3: 21)

2. A testimony of my TRUST in Jesus -- by following His example.

3.  I identify with Jesus' DEATH, BURIAL, and RESURRECTION.  (Romans 6: 3-5) When I enter the water, I'm dead.  When I'm under the water, I'm buried, and when I came out of the water, I am resurrected.

4. An act of obedience because the BIBLE  tells me to "repent and be baptised"  (Mark 16: 16)

5.  I'm a new creature in Christ.  (2 Corinthians 5: 17)

6.  I'm baptised in the name of the FATHER, SON, and HOLY GHOST  (Matthew 28: 19)

7. Water baptism is usually required for the new believer to join the local church.  The Pastor usually performs the baptism.   Some denominations require full immersion in water, while others sprinkle with water.
